Vedic Art

VEDIC ART — WHAT IS IT?

Curt_Kallman“Vedic Art does not teach anyone how to paint. No – Vedic Art is a way to remember how to paint. And not only to remember how art can be created. From the very beginning, when we hear about the seventeen Vedic Principles of Art, we begin to remember the whole story of life. From where we come, and where we are going. Vedic Art contains a navigation map. Use the compass You have in Your brain and find the way to the chamber of peace in Your heart. Then – when You dip Your brush in light, space and bliss, eternity will be pictured. When you enter into Your work of art – in Your self referral dialogue – You will find the code of how life can be lived and how a piece of art can open doors in heaven and on earth.”  Curt Källman, The Founder of Vedic Art, November 2004

Nyllinge3Vedic Art is a joyful way to awaken your inner power and ability to co-create with nature. With your inner power ready to serve you, you will be able to orchestrate your life to your liking through mimicing natures way of creating. The starting point is our own innate driving force.

You hold the pen to the paper and the creation is taking place. It is very simple. But you may experience it to be slightly harder to stop… 😉

Vedic Art is something to try for you who desire to find to create from within, in alignment with Nature. For me it was to be born again. To express your inner landscape bring joy and inspiration not only to what is happening on the canvas before you, but also into life itself.

In other words it is not what kind of education we have that makes us to artists but an activity that moves us closer to our own innate wisdom and creative talent. Vedic Art is a vay to find the wisdom and power behind your creations… regardless if they play out on the canvas, on your job, on your spare time or in your relations.

If we consider our lives from what is happening actually do co-inside with what we do… then it becomes obvious that the actual creating affects our whole existence. We can see that our lives affects also when we paint a painting or create a sculpture out of clay. The creative process then becomes the glue that keeps our lives together.

With the assistance of the 17 Vedic Art principles for Life and Art we can gain an increased awareness on how to create the paintings we work with, or the project we are involved with at our jobs. But not only that… we also gain increased awareness on how to create what we want to experience in life.

VEDIC ART — A DEFINITION

Nyllinge2Vedic Art come from a combination of a the Sanskrit word “Veda” and the English word “art”. “Veda” is a Sanscrit word that means “knowledge” and/or “wisdom”. The word “Art” may in this context be translated into “creative process”. In other words, Vedic Art means the knowledge about the creative process.

Many people asks where Vedic Art comes from and one answer could sound like this: Vedic Art is founded on ancient Vedic knowledge from its time of glory many thousands of years ago. The legacy from this time has remained in artifacts such as old scriptures and also knowledge within a wide range of areas in society, such as art, health, ethics, philosophy, politics and cooking.

In other words, there are many branches on the symbolic tree that this tradition represents. One well known example is the branch of Ayur Veda that is dedicated to health and wellbeing of the person. A less known example is the Stapathya Veda revolving around the architectural environment affecting our daily living or Vastu Veda that brings the knowledge of how different directions affects our milieu.

VEDIC ART — AN ART FORM FOR EVERYONE

Nyllinge1Everyone can do Vedic art, regardless if you already ar an artist or if you never have held a painting brush in your hand.

Many people agree that our society today is very fragmentary where focus is on the different parts instead on putting them together and regarding as a unit. With a fragmentary frame of mind it is very natural to view the creative process as something separated. Something that is only taking place on the canvas or at the potter’s wheel. Something given only the very few who possesses “the Gift”.

If we instead consider our lives from the point of view where events are corresponding with what we actually do – then it becomes obvious that the creative process do indeed affect our entire life. We see that our lives are affected also when we paint our canvas or sculpture a clay figure.

The creative process has become the glue that ties our live together. The creative process becomes the reminder of what can be created and re-created, directly in our daily lives, through the Vedic Art principles of Art and Life teaches us on the canvas.

You need no previous courses or skills in order to do Vedic Art. No rights or wrongs are found.

Instead, when we paint according to Vedic Art’s principles, we acquire a greater awareness of how we create this particular painting we are working with. But not only that, as we said before, we also acquire a greater awareness how we create our live we wish to live. All our actions lay the foundation to how our life evolves.

Through awakening our already innate memories about a conscious process of creation we can alter unwanted situations and empower what brings us joy. And what way could possibly be easier, paired with more fun, than to paint without expectations together with other likeminded souls?

Just one stroke of the brush.

And one more… and you are already doing it.

It is just that simple.

PRACTICAL TIPS

For all classes & workshops, including the Teacher Training, we normally meet between 10am – 4pm with a lunch break in the middle.

For weekend classes beginning on Fridays, we usually start at 5pm, and ends around 11pm with a dinner break in the middle.

YOU BRING YOUR OWN MATERIAL

During the painting classes we either gather around a table or use our own ailes if we want to be standing while painting. To the course, you provide your own writing and painting material.

During the ground course’s first weekend (or first couple of days in the week long course) we mostly use pencil, crayons (any kind will do just fine) and colored pens and plenty, plenty of paper. Feel free to bring PLENTY copy paper in the size of A4 (Letter size) or a sketch pad in A4 or bigger. Old wall paper rolls works very well, too.

Perhaps you wish to use acrylic paint, canvas and/or harder paper in different format. These kinds of purchases are good to plan ahead.

Now, before you start shopping…

Please take a close look in your own cupboards and garages. Very often we can find brushes, hard paper, wall paper and even some color we didn’t know we had!

If you wish to use canvas you can buy such in any length you wish and the cut it in appropriate sizes to fit your desire as you paint. If you prefer to have it already set up there are ready framed canvases you may want to get those instead.

Paper of any thickness can be found in various sizes and qualities.

You may benefit from having brushes in various sizes. Some broader tape and some glue will probably serve you very well, as will sponges and different rags.

Also, please consider to use comfortable clothing and bring good shoes if you wish to go for a walk.
